Eye Clinic LogoJesus performed many miracles during his time of earthly ministry.  A miracle He performed many times, and in astonishing ways, was restoring the sight of the blind.  One way people experience healing today is through the knowledge and skills of medical profesionals.  As many of you know, Cornerstone collaborated with Alcon to create our state-of-the-art cataract procedure suite where people with no other hope for treatment have their sight restored.

Dr. Glenn Strauss, Associate Medical Director of Cornerstone Charitable Clinic, performed four cataract removal procedures on April 4, 2013.  To help overcome the chance of patients feeling vulnerable or afraid, they each had a volunteer companion who was with them throughout the treatment process.

These precious patients received the gift of sight, essentially transforming their lives.  One man lost his job due to low visual acuity, and the others were at risk of losing their ability to work in their chosen occupations.  They all want to work and contribute to their families and communities, and now that their vision is restored, they can maintain independence and productivity.

Cornerstone Thrift Store Birdies for Charity

summer thrift2Remember, Cornerstone Thrift Store is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as the first Saturday of each month.  All thrift store items are donated by the public. The sale of these items allows Cornerstone to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of families and individuals and also provides revenue to the ministry. Last year, the Thrift Store sold over $128,000 in merchandise and gave away over $131,000 of clothing, furniture, household goods, and supplies to our clients and Network Partners. Thank you for being a part of this ministry through your donations, prayers, and volunteering.

BirdiesThe Birdies for Charity program is an opportunity for charitable organizations to utilize the awareness and magnitude of a PGA TOUR event to further their fundraising initiatives. For the 9th year, Cornerstone will partner with The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial to raise funds for the ministry. Last year, he program generated $5.4 million for 33 Tarrant County charities and was recognized as one of the top Birdies for Charity programs on the PGA TOUR. Click here to go to our online pledge and payment page. The concept is simple: Charitable Organizations solicit pledges from individuals and corporations for every birdie made during the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. In 2012, 1,143 birdies were recorded during the tournament. As a bonus, charities have the opportunity to earn additional contributions from our Matching Fund. The Matching Fund is distributed based on a pro-rata basis of total pledges collected. In the 2012, the total Matching Fund was $162,000. The Colonial Golf Tournament will be May 20th-26th, 2013.
