AstraZeneca Grant
Cornerstone received a $150,000 grant from AstraZeneca's HealthCare Foundation program, Connections for Cardiovascular Health, for the second consecutive year. This grant will support our Cardio Outreach program geared towards underserved, low-income residents of Tarrant County . Cardio Outreach is designed to include patients from our partner organizations, which will increase capacity and provide sustainable, comprehensive cardiac care to the poor and uninsured.

Bank of America Award
Cornerstone received one of two North Texas Neighborhood Excellence Awards from Bank of America for 2010. (Click here to watch the video about two of our NLC residents.) This two-year grant provides funding as well as leadership training for Cornerstone.

Adult Education

Adult Education Services
Cornerstone believes in the importance of a quality education. As a result, we strongly encourage our program participants to pursue their education and offer several ways for them to do just that.

Those we serve have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Computer skills training
  • GED tutoring
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
  • Piano classes

These classes are offered to our clients as a part of the journey toward financial independence and greater self-determination.

GED and ESL Tutoring for Adults
*GED classes are now in session.  We will be off for spring break during the week of March 12th-16th.  Dates correspond with the FWISD school calendar.

Subjects taught in our GED and ESL classes vary depending on the needs of our participants. Our classes are staffed mostly by volunteers, either with a heart to serve, a teaching background, or both. Participants in these programs are paired with tutors to guide and offer encouragement throughout the process. Armed with their GED or better English speaking skills, our graduates are more marketable in the job field and may even choose to pursue a college degree.

Get Involved
If you would like to participate in one of these programs, please contact our Director of Community Services, Jesse Vasquez.

If you would like to volunteer in one of these programs, please contact our Director of Volunteers, Kristen Horton.
